The Woman Behind His Success
During our marriage, Graham loved introducing me as the quiet one. At business dinners, he would put his hand on my shoulder and say:
“Marissa keeps me grounded.”
Everyone thought it was affectionate.
What Graham rarely mentioned was that I had spent nearly a decade analyzing financial risk for his company. Before Holloway Resorts purchased a property, I reviewed the numbers. Before Graham presented projections to investors, I checked them. When contracts arrived, I was often the person who noticed the clauses everyone else had missed.
I never needed the spotlight. Graham eventually confused that with not having power.
As the company grew, he began dismissing my concerns.
“You worry too much.”
Or:
“Leave the big decisions to me.”
Eventually, he moved me away from formal operations but kept asking for my help privately whenever something went wrong. I accepted that arrangement longer than I should have.
Then, shortly after he asked for the divorce, I found something he never expected me to see.
