Two hours after marrying another woman, my ex brought an NDA to my hospital bed—ten minutes later, one revelation left him pale and his bride speechless

What He Was About to Lose

Graham stood completely still. His wedding reception was continuing somewhere across town. Hundreds of guests were probably waiting for the newlyweds to return. His new wife had just left him standing in his former wife’s hospital room. His merger had been paused. His board wanted answers. And for the first time since I had known him, Graham had no speech prepared.

He looked at Lucy.

“Is she really mine?”

I felt something inside me finally close. Not painfully. Quietly.

“Yes.”

He swallowed.

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

I looked directly at him.

“Because every time I tried to tell you something important during our marriage, you reminded me that your plans came first.”

He lowered his eyes. Then he looked at the NDA beneath Brielle’s wedding ring.

“What happens now?”

That question almost made me laugh. For years, Graham had decided what happened next. Now he was asking me.
