THE TRUTH UNCOVERED
The next morning, Renata gathered her courage and went to Rafael’s office.
“Sir,” she said firmly, “something’s wrong with the twins’ medicine. Please, you have to look into it.”
Rafael frowned, torn. “Renata, I appreciate what you’re doing, but Dr. Cásia is a professional. You’re asking me to doubt someone I’ve trusted for years.”
Renata swallowed her tears. “I’m asking you to trust your heart.”
But her plea fell on deaf ears. Until the night everything changed.
Renata was cleaning near the garage when she heard voices.
Dr. Cásia’s voice — low, urgent, cold.
“No, they can’t find out. I’m handling it. Everything is going according to plan.”
Renata froze.
Her blood ran cold.
