What I Learned
For years I’d wondered what was wrong with me — why my mother left. But I was asking the wrong question. The most important part of my story wasn’t that she walked away. It was that he stayed.
He didn’t stay out of duty or blood. He stayed because love is a choice you make again, every single day.
A biological parent gives you life. But a real parent teaches you how to live it. And when I look back at my childhood now — I don’t see the empty chair. I see him.
