The tycoon froze as the young woman shredded the $5 million check—money meant to buy her silence and push her out of the child’s life. But it wasn’t merely rejection. It was the first crack in an empire, because she possessed the most dangerous evidence of all: the “perfect” plan her son had left behind before his sudden death—set into motion by his own mother’s fatal miscalculations.

THE FIRST CRACK IN VICTORIA’S POWER

Victoria snapped an order at David: “Destroy her.”
“Find dirt. If you can’t—make it.”

But three days later, her lead attorney called, his voice unsteady:
“Victoria… she has Morrison, Calderón y Perea.”

Victoria scoffed—until he finished:
“They’re representing her pro bono.”
“They’ve filed a motion: any attempt to remove the child based on her socioeconomic status constitutes discrimination-based kidnapping.”

Victoria hurled the phone against the wall. It shattered on impact.
For the first time in her life, money failed to force an outcome.
