Back on Board: A Hero at Work
When Samantha stepped back onto Flight 482, the cabin erupted in whispers. Some passengers looked shocked. Others looked ashamed. A few were already in tears.
“She’s the paramedic,” a flight attendant explained. “She’s his only chance.”
Without hesitation, Samantha rushed to the unconscious man’s side. She checked his pulse, airway, and breathing—all while calmly instructing the crew on what to do next. She improvised equipment from what was available on board, stabilized his vitals, and performed life-saving procedures that kept him alive until the plane made an emergency landing in Chicago.
By the time paramedics arrived, the man was conscious and breathing steadily. ER doctors later confirmed that without Samantha’s intervention, he would not have survived.
