Days passed. Clara took long walks after school, always ending near the park.
One afternoon, the bench was empty. The teddy bear lay alone, soaked by rain.
Panicked, she ran to the shelter. “Where is she?”
“She was taken to the hospital. Exposure and pneumonia. Critical condition,” the worker said.
Clara ran to St. Mary’s Hospital.
