Day Three: When Money Stops Working
By the third day, panic filled the mansion like smoke.
Doctors arrived. Then specialists. Then therapists.
They spoke softly, crouched down, smiled warmly.
Oliver didn’t react.
They tried games. Songs. Distractions.
Nothing.
“He’s grieving,” one of them said gently. “Forcing food may make it worse.”
“But he hasn’t eaten,” Charles snapped. “He’ll weaken.”
“We can monitor him,” they said. “Emotionally, pressure could shut him down completely.”
Charles nodded—but inside, his world was crumbling.
He had built an empire from nothing. Solved problems others thought impossible.
And yet… he couldn’t make his own son eat.
