“It’s not what it looks like!” Eleanor gasped. “The angle—it’s misleading! Mark was trying to catch him!”
Mark said nothing, staring at his plate.
Tom stood, rage shaking his voice.
“Misleading? You ran to him. You told him what to say while my son was lying there crying.”
He pointed to the door.
“Get out. Both of you. Out of my house.”
Eleanor’s pleas went unanswered.
