Finding Ethan

Marcus’s voice echoed through the house.

“Ethan! It’s Uncle Marcus!”

For a moment there was silence.

Then a tiny voice answered from upstairs.

“Uncle Marcus… I’m up here.”

“Stay right there, buddy. I’m coming.”

Heavy footsteps climbed the stairs.

“Who the hell are you? That’s breaking and entering. I’m calling the cops!”

“Go ahead,” Marcus replied calmly. “Tell them why you hit a four-year-old with a baseball bat.”

“That brat wouldn’t shut up,” the man snapped. “Kept crying for his dad.”

What happened next was quick.

I heard a sharp crack through the phone.

Kyle screamed.
