The View Outside the Window
Carefully, Graham helped Harper sit near the window.
Outside, rows of motorcycles lined the hospital entrance.
Beside each one stood someone waiting quietly.
No one looked in a rush to leave.
Harper pressed her small hand against the glass.
“Who are they?”
Graham answered without hesitation.
“People who believe every child deserves someone who shows up.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“They’re… here because of me?”
“Yes.”
“Because you’re important.”
One rider looked up and waved.
Harper hesitated.
Slowly…
She raised her own hand.
The rider’s smile grew wider.
Then another waved.
Then another.
Soon, every rider outside had quietly lifted a hand toward the window.
Harper couldn’t hold it in anymore.
Tears streamed down her face.
Not from fear.
But because, for the first time in a very long time…
She no longer felt invisible.
Graham gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“You don’t have to carry everything alone anymore.”
