A Promise Made
As Shadow rested peacefully in his lap, Michael whispered a new vow:
“No more apologies, my friend. From today until your last breath, I will give you nothing but love.
And I will carry you in my heart for the rest of my life.”
For the first time that day, Shadow’s tail thumped faintly against the floor.
It was his way of saying: I understand. I’m not afraid anymore.
