Quiz

96% of people get this wrong! How many triangles can you find?

At first glance, the picture seems very simple.

It’s just a pyramid made up of ten small, chocolate-like triangles.

Most people quickly say, “10 triangles,” because they only count the pieces they immediately see.

For illustrative purposes only

But this puzzle is far trickier than it looks.

The key is realizing that not all triangles exist on their own.

Some of the smaller triangles combine to form larger ones.

That’s exactly why so many people get the wrong answer.

Take a closer look at the image.

Start at the top.

Count each tiny triangle carefully.

There are 10 small triangles in total.

Simple enough, right?

But don’t stop there.

Now look for triangles formed by combining two or three smaller pieces.

You’ll notice several medium-sized triangles hidden within the pyramid.

Some point upward, while others only become visible when you follow the spaces between the shapes.

Many people miss these because they focus only on the individual pieces.

After counting the medium ones, try spotting even larger triangles.

Can you see the big triangle formed by nearly the entire structure?

There’s more than one large shape hiding here.

This is where the puzzle gets interesting.

Your brain naturally focuses on obvious shapes.

But visual puzzles reward patience.

If you slow down and trace every possible outline, new triangles start appearing everywhere.

Some people count 10.

Others get 15 or 20.

A few manage to find 24 or 25.

Missing even one hidden triangle changes the final answer.

The best way to solve it is to count by size.

First, count all the smallest triangles.

Then count the medium ones.

Next, count the larger triangles.

Finally, check if any giant triangles can be formed by combining multiple rows.

Organizing your counting this way helps avoid double-counting and reduces mistakes.

This puzzle is a great reminder that our eyes don’t always catch everything right away.

Sometimes the answer is hiding in plain sight.

You just need to look a little longer—and think differently.

So, did you find them all?

The Answer
There are 26 triangles hidden in the picture.

If you got 26, well done!

If not, that’s okay—the fun of puzzles like this isn’t just the answer, but discovering how much more there is than what we first see.
